Journalist Farhan Mallick Remanded to Jail under Judicial Custody

KARACHI – A judicial magistrate in Karachi’s East district has ordered journalist Farhan Mallick’s detention on judicial remand.

Presented by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Mallick was represented by advocate Abdul Moiz Jafri, while several journalists and anchors attended the hearing.

The defense argued for his discharge, asserting his journalistic role, but the prosecution claimed he posted anti-state videos. The court demanded proof and questioned the nature of the content and the complainant’s identity.

Mallick denied physical mistreatment but alleged harassment of his staff. The court cautioned the investigating officer against further harassment, warning of legal consequences. Mallick was sent to jail, and a notice was issued on his bail plea.
