Jordan Rejects US Proposal for Palestinian Relocation
Jordan has firmly rejected a proposal by US President Donald Trump to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, labeling it as “unacceptable.”
Trump’s Proposal
During a press briefing, Trump suggested that Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab countries should provide refuge to Palestinians in Gaza, which he referred to as a “devastated area.” He proposed the relocation of 1.5 million people, describing it as a step to stabilize the region. The plan, according to Trump, could either be temporary or long-term.

He also mentioned discussing the matter with Jordan’s King Abdullah and planning a similar conversation with Egyptian President El-Sisi. While the Israeli finance minister supported the plan, calling it “an excellent idea,” Hamas categorically rejected it.
Jordan’s Firm Stance
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi dismissed the proposal, reiterating that Jordan stands strongly against the expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland. He emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through a two-state solution and affirmed Jordan’s commitment to supporting peace efforts.
Reactions from Hamas
Hamas leaders, including Bassem Naeem and Mohammed Nazzal, also rejected the proposal, describing it as an endorsement of Israeli schemes. They called for international support to rebuild Gaza, the lifting of its blockade, and recognition of a free Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Call to Action
Nazzal urged Arab and Islamic nations to denounce the relocation idea and to assist Palestinians in resisting Israeli aggression. He stressed that Palestinians remain determined and will not accept any measures that infringe on their rights.
This development underscores the ongoing challenges in achieving peace in the region, with conflicting views on how to address the plight of Palestinians in Gaza.
