Jon Bon Jovi helped save a woman from taking her own life, as seen in a video released by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on Wednesday.
The emotional footage, recorded Tuesday evening and shared on YouTube, shows the “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer carefully approaching a woman on the outer ledge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville, Tennessee. Bon Jovi, 62, was filming a music video for his song “People’s House” when he and his crew noticed the woman clinging to the bridge’s handrails.

Bon Jovi stopped a few feet away and began speaking with the woman, gradually moving closer with the help of another bystander. While their exact conversation is not fully audible, the singer and the bystander appeared to convince the distressed woman to step back onto the bridge. The video then shows them helping her over the railing and continuing to speak with her. Afterward, the three walked away together.
A source confirmed to Page Six that Bon Jovi had been filming his music video when he spotted the woman in distress. The source also mentioned that Bon Jovi has experience in crisis intervention through his Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.
The foundation is dedicated to “recognizing and maximizing the human potential in those affected by hunger, poverty, and homelessness by providing food, affordable housing, social services, and job training programs,” according to its website.
Out of respect for the individual’s privacy, Bon Jovi will not be making a public statement about the incident, the source added.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department praised Bon Jovi’s actions in a Facebook post on Wednesday, stating, “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety. ❤.”
Nashville Police Chief John Drake also commented, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
