The Government of Japan has announced the MEXT Teachers Training Scholarship 2026 for Pakistani teachers interested in professional training and research in school education. The scholarship provides an opportunity for selected candidates to undertake a non-degree training program at a Japanese university, focusing on educational research and teaching methodologies.
Under this program, participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion. The course is strictly for professional training and does not lead to bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees. The initiative is offered by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and aims to enhance teaching skills and educational research knowledge.
The program typically begins in October each year. Selected teachers will also receive Japanese language training prior to the start of academic activities, as many courses and research guidance sessions are conducted in Japanese.
Eligibility criteria include being born on or after April 2, 1991, holding a university or teacher-training qualification, and having a minimum of five years of teaching experience at the primary or secondary level, or at a teacher training institution, by October 1, 2026. University faculty members are not eligible.
Applicants must demonstrate the intellectual and psychological ability to live and study in a foreign cultural environment for approximately 18 months. A willingness to learn the Japanese language is also essential.
The last date to submit applications is February 12, 2026. Interested candidates can find detailed information and application guidelines on the official website of the Embassy in Pakistan. This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for Pakistani teachers to gain international exposure and enhance their professional expertise.
