Squash legends Nicol David and Jansher Khan were inducted into the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Hall of Fame during a special ceremony at the Hong Kong Football Club, held on the eve of the Hong Kong Squash Open. The event, which aired live on SQUASHTV, celebrated their remarkable contributions to the sport.
David and Khan joined an esteemed group of inductees, becoming the fourth and fifth members of the PSA Hall of Fame, alongside inaugural inductees Susan Devoy and Jahangir Khan.
Nicol David, widely regarded as one of the greatest female squash players in history, is known for her unmatched achievements, including eight World Championship titles, a 108-month reign as World No.1, five British Open titles, and two Commonwealth Games gold medals. After retiring, David has focused on community-driven initiatives through the Nicol David Organisation, which supports squash development and education. In 2021, she became a member of the Laureus World Sports Academy. Expressing her gratitude, she said, “It’s such an honor to be recognized in this way. I feel amazing and truly thankful to the PSA.”

Jansher Khan, a key figure in Pakistan’s squash dominance during the 1980s and 1990s, won eight World Championships and six British Open titles. He held the World No.1 position for a record 97 months and ended his career with 99 professional titles, the highest in men’s squash. Khan, reflecting on his induction, expressed joy at being celebrated in Hong Kong, where he won the Hong Kong Open eight times.
PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough praised both legends, stating, “Nicol and Jansher’s names will forever be linked with squash. Their records and influence on the game are unmatched.” Current squash stars, including World No.1 Nour El Sherbini and Ali Farag, also paid tribute to David and Khan. Farag described Khan as “the greatest squash player of all time,” while El Sherbini called David an inspiration for all players.
The induction marks a significant moment as PSA celebrates its 50th anniversary, emphasizing the lasting impact of these trailblazers on the sport of squash. The PSA Hall of Fame now stands as a testament to those who have shaped squash into the global game it is today.
