Jamaat Islami (JI) has announced that it will hold protest sit-ins across Karachi starting tomorrow, the party said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The decision comes amid growing political tensions and dissatisfaction with the current government over economic policies, rising inflation, and governance issues.
According to party officials, the sit-ins aim to draw attention to public grievances and demand immediate action from authorities to address economic hardships faced by citizens.
JI leaders urged people to join the peaceful protests while adhering to safety and security measures during the demonstrations.
The party plans to organise sit-ins at major intersections and public areas in Karachi, ensuring maximum visibility to convey their message effectively.
Authorities have been informed of the planned gatherings, and police will be deployed to maintain law and order while facilitating the protests.
JI emphasised that the sit-ins will remain non-violent and constitutionally peaceful, calling on participants to avoid any clashes or disruptions to traffic and daily activities.
Leaders highlighted that public engagement and awareness are key objectives, aiming to pressure the government to take corrective steps on economic and administrative issues.
Political analysts say the move reflects increasing public dissatisfaction and a growing trend of street protests in major cities.
The protests also underline the role of opposition parties in highlighting issues of governance and accountability, especially in urban centers like Karachi.
Authorities have urged citizens to plan their travel accordingly and remain cautious during the sit-ins, ensuring personal safety amid large gatherings.
Traffic management teams will implement temporary diversions and guidelines to minimise inconvenience to commuters and local residents.
JI has previously conducted similar demonstrations in other cities, citing inflation, unemployment, and governance concerns as motivating factors.
Party leaders said the Karachi sit-ins are part of a broader strategy to amplify public voices and hold authorities accountable.
