Israeli Airstrike Kills Four in Southern Lebanon

An Israeli airstrike has killed at least four people in southern Lebanon, marking another escalation in the ongoing cross-border conflict. The strike reportedly targeted what Israel described as Hezbollah-linked positions near the town of Tyre.

Lebanese security officials confirmed the deaths, saying the victims included both fighters and civilians caught in the blast. The attack also damaged nearby homes and vehicles, causing panic among residents in the area.

Hezbollah responded by firing a volley of rockets toward northern Israel, intensifying fears of a broader regional confrontation. Both sides have exchanged fire frequently in recent weeks despite international calls for restraint.

The Israeli military claimed the airstrike was a defensive measure following rocket attacks launched from Lebanese territory earlier in the day. It said operations would continue until “all threats are neutralized.”

Lebanese authorities condemned the strike as a violation of sovereignty and urged the United Nations to intervene to prevent further escalation. UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon have increased patrols near the border region.

Observers warn that continued violence between Israel and Hezbollah could destabilize the already fragile situation in the Middle East, especially amid ongoing tensions in Gaza and Syria.
