Netanyahu Gains Security Cabinet Support For Gaza Occupation Plan

Israel’s security cabinet has approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza City militarily. The move aims to defeat Hamas but has raised serious international concerns.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will prepare for a full takeover of Gaza City. The plan also includes providing humanitarian aid to civilians outside active combat zones.

The proposal now awaits final approval from the full government cabinet, expected to meet soon. If approved, the military operation will begin quickly.

According to reports, the operation will involve forcibly relocating Palestinian civilians from Gaza City to central refugee camps by October 7. A siege will be imposed on Hamas fighters who remain, followed by a ground offensive.

This plan signals a major escalation in the conflict and could displace tens of thousands of civilians. Gaza residents already face severe food shortages and constant airstrikes.

Humanitarian groups warn that the occupation will worsen living conditions. Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports nearly 200 deaths due to starvation and malnutrition. Aid delivery remains limited, worsening the crisis.

Netanyahu has stated that Israel does not intend to govern Gaza permanently. Instead, Israel plans to establish a security perimeter before transferring control to a third party, though no details are given.

International reactions have been mixed. While many express concern about the humanitarian impact, former U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced support for Netanyahu’s plan.

Gaza City, once densely populated, has seen widespread destruction. Many residents fled earlier but some returned during ceasefires. Now, a new military offensive threatens to displace more people.

If the government approves the plan, Israel could begin ground operations within days. The escalation risks severe damage to civilians and regional stability.
