The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has denied reports claiming that Army Chief Asim Munir gave an interview to journalist Sohail Warraich. He clarified in a statement that no such interview took place.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif explained that the column referred to by Warraich was about a public event in Brussels. During this event, many people took photographs, but there was no mention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or any discussion of an apology. He said the claim was misleading and an attempt by the journalist to gain personal publicity.
The ISPR DG criticized the irresponsible behavior of even senior journalists who spread such information. He stressed that the Pakistan Army is a responsible institution that upholds law and order. He added that anyone involved in illegal activities will face legal consequences.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif urged Pakistan’s youth to understand the country’s ideological legacy and recognize their own strength. He warned that once the youth realize their power, extremists and proxy forces will no longer intimidate them.
He quoted the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the victory of truth over falsehood and linked it to Pakistan’s resilience. The DG ISPR highlighted Pakistan’s defense achievements, noting the country’s modest defense budget of Rs80 billion and its nuclear capability.
He also criticized propaganda that paints Pakistan as a failing nation while praising India with titles like “shining state” and “Vishwaguru.” According to him, this narrative aims to discourage young Pakistanis.
In conclusion, the ISPR reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to national security and asked citizens to rely on verified information. The ISPR continues to play a vital role in communicating accurate updates about the military and national affairs.
