The Islamabad Traffic Police are continuing a special enforcement and awareness campaign against motorcycle lane violations, aimed at improving road discipline across the capital. The initiative combines strict monitoring with rider education, reflecting a broader strategy to promote long-term compliance rather than relying solely on fines and penalties.
Launched on January 1, 2026, the campaign focuses on ensuring that motorcyclists strictly follow designated lanes on major roads in Islamabad. Traffic officials say the drive targets habitual violations while also engaging riders through direct interaction to explain traffic rules and highlight the importance of safe lane usage.
According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, the campaign has already shown encouraging results on key city routes. Authorities report up to a 95 percent reduction in motorcycle lane violation cases on busy roads such as Club Road and Srinagar Highway, where traffic flow has noticeably improved.
Officials noted that better lane discipline has also helped reduce congestion and confusion during peak hours. By separating motorcycles from faster-moving traffic, the police believe the initiative has contributed to smoother movement and a safer environment for all road users, including pedestrians and motorists.
As part of the campaign, Chief Traffic Officer Captain Hamza Humayun formally acknowledged officers who demonstrated exceptional performance. During a special ceremony, certificates were awarded to top-performing personnel, with the CTO praising their professionalism, dedication, and respectful engagement with the public.
Official footage released by traffic authorities shows officers stopping motorcyclists, guiding them about proper lane usage, and managing traffic more efficiently. The Islamabad Traffic Police have confirmed that the campaign will continue, with sustained emphasis on enforcement, awareness, and education to ensure safer roads across the city.
