Pakistan’s capital Islamabad remains gripped by an intense heatwave, with soaring temperatures and no immediate relief expected.
The twin cities are forecast to experience hot and dry conditions for the next two days, with daytime temperatures touching 45°C. Gusty winds are likely in the afternoons, with chances of stronger windstorms by Thursday.

Humidity is at 30%, with only 5% cloud cover, offering little hope for rain. Winds from the south-southwest are blowing at 9 km/h, with gusts up to 10 km/h.
Islamabad Weather Outlook:
According to the Met Office, temperatures in northern areas — including central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, KP, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan — will remain 5 to 7°C above normal on June 11 and 12. Southern regions like Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to be 4 to 6°C hotter than average.
Over the past 24 hours, several cities recorded dangerously high temperatures. Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Dadu hit 47°C, while DG Khan, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Jacobabad, and Mandi Bahauddin recorded 47-48°C. Bannu, Sargodha, Noorpur Thal, and Sibi topped the list at 49°C. Nawabshah, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, and Islamabad also faced extreme heat, reaching up to 46°C.
Authorities have advised people to avoid direct sun exposure between 11 AM and 4 PM and to drink plenty of water. Emergency services remain on high alert to handle heat-related emergencies as the extreme conditions persist.
