Islamabad Red Zone Gets Updated Traffic Plan

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued an official traffic advisory on March 2 concerning movement and entry restrictions in the Islamabad Red Zone. Authorities announced that access to the Red Zone will remain open only through designated routes to ensure better traffic management and enhanced security. Entry is permitted exclusively via Margalla Road and the route passing through the Marriott Hotel. All other entry and exit points leading toward the Red Zone have been temporarily closed to regulate movement.

According to the advisory, drivers coming from Club Road have been instructed to follow a specific route. They must proceed toward Kashmir Chowk and then continue via Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and finally reach Margalla Road to access the permitted entry point. This diversion aims to streamline traffic flow and avoid congestion in restricted areas.

Similarly, commuters traveling from Barakahu have been directed to use the approved route through Kashmir Chowk. From there, they are required to travel along Srinagar Highway, move toward Seventh Avenue, and then reach Margalla Road for entry into the Islamabad Red Zone. Authorities emphasized compliance with these instructions to prevent unnecessary delays and traffic disruption.

For public convenience, Islamabad residents and travelers can obtain real-time updates by contacting the emergency helpline 15 or the Traffic Helpline at 1915. Additionally, live traffic updates and guidance are available through ITP’s radio channel FM 92.4. The advisory reflects ongoing efforts by Islamabad authorities to maintain security and ensure smooth traffic regulation within sensitive areas of the capital city.
