The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has begun the second phase of its driving license facilitation campaign, allowing residents to obtain learner permits directly at designated traffic checkpoints. This initiative has been launched on the instructions of the Inspector General of Islamabad Police to curb unlicensed driving and improve road safety.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Hamza Humayun, special mobile facilitation vans have been deployed at four major checkpoints — Zero Point, Faizabad, G-14, and the Foreign Office — where citizens can receive learner permits on the spot if they do not already hold a valid license. Traffic police are also conducting strict license inspections, but those without documentation will be assisted immediately instead of facing penalties.
The CTO said the campaign aims to promote responsible driving habits and ensure better compliance with traffic regulations across the capital. He reiterated that ITP is committed to offering transparent, quick, and accessible licensing services for the convenience of the public.
In the first phase of its efforts, the department had set up 15 new service counters at the Faizabad Traffic Office and Traffic Headquarters to speed up the licensing process. These counters operate from 6:00 PM onward, helping reduce long queues and wait times. Officials stress that the ITP will continue modernizing its system and introducing initiatives that enhance citizen experience and road safety in Islamabad.
