Pakistan-Iran trade continued to show growth during the first two months of the new fiscal year. Pakistan’s imports from Iran increased by 17 percent year-on-year.
Imports reached $248 million during July and August of the current fiscal year. The figure was $212 million during the same period last year.
This represents an increase of $36 million in just two months. The rise came despite uncertainty across the region during the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The latest data shows that Pakistan-Iran imports have maintained their upward trend. Trade between the two countries has increased steadily over recent years.
During fiscal year 2025-26, Pakistan imported goods worth $1.395 billion from Iran. This was higher than the $1.241 billion recorded during fiscal year 2024-25.
The annual increase was around 12 percent during the period. It also marked another year of growth in imports from the neighboring country.
Pakistan’s imports from Iran have increased significantly compared with figures from earlier years. Imports stood at $1.037 billion during fiscal year 2023-24.
The figure was lower at $880 million during fiscal year 2022-23. Imports were recorded at around $773.8 million during fiscal year 2021-22.
The longer-term figures also show a gradual rise in bilateral trade. Pakistan imported goods worth around $518.6 million from Iran during fiscal year 2020-21.
Imports were approximately $440 million during fiscal year 2019-20. The latest figures therefore show continued growth over the past several years.
The increase in Pakistan-Iran imports comes as regional trade conditions remain uncertain. Economic and regional developments can affect trade flows between neighboring countries.
Despite these challenges, import activity from Iran has continued to expand. The latest two-month figures further highlight this trend.
The year-on-year increase also indicates stronger import activity at the start of the fiscal year. However, the figures cover only the first two months.
Future data will provide a clearer picture of the overall trade trend. The full-year performance will depend on economic and regional conditions.
