Islamabad Police Extend Deadline for Driving License Applications

Islamabad police have extended the deadline for citizens to acquire driving licenses by a week, shifting it from October 1 to October 7.

The move, directed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aims to provide greater ease for the public.

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) announced that from October 18, a strict crackdown will begin on motorists and motorcyclists driving without valid licenses. Violators will face legal consequences, including arrests and vehicle impoundment.

Authorities also stated that those caught without a license will not be eligible for character certificates until they secure one.

Officials highlighted that the decision is intended to boost road safety, strengthen adherence to traffic laws, and curb unlicensed driving in the capital.

To meet the rising demand, ITP has expanded services at facilitation centers, extending working hours and deploying mobile units. Citizens are urged to complete their license applications before the new deadline to avoid penalties.
