Islamabad Issues Urban Flooding Alert as Heavy Rains Expected

Residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been advised to prepare for Heavy Rains as a new weather system approaches the region. Meteorologists have warned of cloudy skies, intermittent rainfall, and thunderstorms expected throughout Tuesday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, humidity levels remain high at around 95 percent. Temperatures are expected to range between 27°C and 29°C during the day. Over the next two days, temperatures may drop slightly to between 26°C and 28°C. Weather experts say that Heavy Rains may occur at different intervals during this period.

The forecast also includes chances of strong winds and hailstorms. These conditions could make the situation more challenging for residents. Authorities have advised people to take precautions, especially during thunderstorms and intense rainfall.

A strong westerly weather system is expected to enter the country from tonight. This system will affect large parts of Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir. The impact is likely to continue in northern regions until April 9. Officials warn that this system could bring widespread Heavy Rains in several areas.

There is also a risk of flash floods in low-lying areas and urban centers. Cities like Islamabad and Rawalpindi may experience water accumulation on roads and streets. Drainage systems could come under pressure due to continuous rainfall. Residents living in vulnerable areas are advised to stay alert.

In hilly regions such as Murree and Galiyat, the risk of landslides has increased. Continuous rain and unstable slopes could create dangerous conditions. Travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement in these areas during the weather spell.

Authorities have also highlighted possible damage caused by windstorms and lightning. Weak structures such as electric poles, billboards, and solar panels may be affected. Standing crops in nearby agricultural areas could also suffer losses due to extreme weather.

Emergency services have been placed on alert to respond to any situation. Officials are monitoring the situation closely and have urged citizens to follow safety guidelines. People are advised to stay indoors during severe weather and avoid flooded roads.
