An Islamabad district and sessions court has declared former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur a proclaimed offender. The decision came in a liquor and arms recovery case after his repeated absence from court hearings.
The oral order was announced during a hearing held in Islamabad. Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti presided over the proceedings. The court also issued arrest warrants against the former chief minister.
According to official court records, the case is registered at Bara Kahu police station. It relates to the recovery of liquor and illegal weapons. The case has been pending for some time.
The court noted that Ali Amin Gandapur failed to appear despite several notices. Summons were issued on multiple occasions. However, he did not attend any of the scheduled hearings.
Due to his continued absence, the magistrate took strict action. The court declared Ali Amin Gandapur a proclaimed offender under the law. The judge stated that the step was taken after exhausting all legal options.
Following the declaration, arrest warrants were formally approved. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to arrest the accused. The court ordered police to ensure the warrants are executed without delay.
Authorities have also been instructed to submit a compliance report. This report must confirm whether the arrest warrants have been carried out. The court emphasized the importance of timely action.
Further proceedings in the case have been adjourned. A new date will be set after the compliance report is received. The court will review progress at the next hearing.
Legal experts say courts can declare an accused a proclaimed offender if they avoid proceedings. This step allows law enforcement to take stronger action. It also places additional legal pressure on the accused.
Ali Amin Gandapur has not issued a public statement on the court’s decision so far. No response from his legal team was available at the time of reporting.
The case adds to ongoing legal challenges faced by the former chief minister. It remains to be seen how the situation develops once police submit their report.
