Islamabad announces one more public holiday

The Islamabad district administration has declared another local holiday, announcing Saturday, April 11, 2026, as a public holiday within the jurisdiction of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). The decision was confirmed through an official notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate on April 10.

According to the notification, the holiday will be observed across Islamabad, adding to a series of recent administrative closures in the twin cities. This move is expected to limit routine activities in various parts of the federal capital, as many public offices and departments may remain closed for the day.

Despite the holiday, authorities have clarified that essential services will continue to operate without any disruption. Key institutions, including the Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Administration, ICT Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), and hospitals, will remain fully functional to ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.

The administration emphasized that while general operations may slow down, emergency services and civic management systems will stay active to handle any urgent situations. This ensures that residents will continue to have access to critical facilities despite the temporary closure of routine government services.

Citizens have been advised to plan their schedules accordingly, particularly if they need to visit government offices or avail services that may be affected by the تعطیل. Proper planning can help avoid inconvenience caused by closures during the holiday period.

It is worth noting that a similar local holiday was recently announced in Rawalpindi, reflecting the broader administrative measures being taken in light of the ongoing situation in the federal capital.
