Islamabad Airport Goes Fully Cashless for Passengers

Pakistan Airports Authority has announced that Islamabad International Airport has fully transitioned to a cashless payment system, allowing travelers to complete all transactions digitally as part of efforts to modernize airport services and enhance efficiency for passengers.

Under the new system, passengers can pay all applicable fees and charges through a dedicated mobile application and other digital payment methods, eliminating the need for cash at service counters. Officials say the initiative is designed to speed up procedures, reduce queues, and simplify the payment experience for travelers moving through the airport.

Authorities explained that the transition will also improve transparency in transactions, as digital payments create automatic records that reduce the possibility of errors or discrepancies. This, they noted, will help ensure smoother operations and better financial monitoring while minimizing manual handling of cash by staff.

The aviation authority added that adopting advanced payment solutions aligns airport services with international standards followed by major global travel hubs. By integrating technology into routine procedures, officials expect improved operational efficiency and a more organized environment for passengers and airport personnel alike.

Officials emphasized that the initiative reflects a broader strategy to modernize infrastructure and enhance service delivery in Pakistan’s aviation sector. They said digital systems can strengthen security, streamline processes, and support faster service without compromising reliability or accuracy in transactions.

The authority reiterated that passenger convenience remains a top priority, and the move toward cashless operations represents a significant step in providing secure, seamless, and modern travel facilities. Travelers are encouraged to adopt digital payment options to take full advantage of the upgraded system and avoid delays.
