For the Men in Green to surpass New Zealand, they must defeat England by a substantial margin. Meanwhile, Afghanistan would need an even more substantial victory over South Africa to surpass both Pakistan and New Zealand.

The Kiwis displayed their prowess from the beginning, dismissing the Sri Lankan batsmen at an early stage. Kusal Perera’s resolute half-century maintained a ticking scoreboard, but he too was soon back in the pavilion.
Maheesh Theekshana and Dilshan Madushanka put up a fight, holding on to help Sri Lanka reach a total of 171. However, New Zealand’s successful chase, completed in 23.2 overs, left Sri Lanka short.
Pakistan now faces an extremely challenging task, needing to defeat England by a margin of approximately 274 runs to surpass New Zealand. Realistically, this presents an almost insurmountable challenge.
New Zealand is poised to encounter India in the semi-final, scheduled to take place at Wankhede on November 15.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Afghanistan will return to their respective countries following their final match in the World Cup 2023.
