Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been dropped from the IPL 2025 commentary panel amid serious allegations, according to Indian media reports.
The IPL 2025 season commenced at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). However, Pathan’s absence from the grand opening ceremony was widely noted.

Despite being a regular and well-known commentator, Pathan’s name was missing from the official panel released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Reports indicate that multiple Indian cricketers accused Pathan of biased commentary and targeting specific players, with one player even blocking his number after a controversial remark during India’s series against Australia.
Allegedly, Pathan has been criticizing certain players over the past two years, drawing disapproval from BCCI officials. His comments on Virat Kohli’s form during the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy are believed to have contributed to the dispute.
Notably, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar faced similar allegations in the past and was also removed from the panel for making contentious remarks.
