Amideast West Bank/Gaza is excited to introduce the Ireland-Palestine Scholarship Programme (IPSP), which is funded by the Irish Government. This initiative offers full scholarships for Palestinian students to pursue a Master’s degree at an Irish higher education institution for the academic year 2023/2024. Students can choose from a wide range of courses at 19 different universities in Ireland.

This move highlights Ireland’s ongoing support for the Palestinian cause. Ireland’s intervention adds to international pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reconsider the severe restrictions on food aid to Gaza, which have contributed to worsening humanitarian conditions.

Irish Foreign Minister Micheál Martin criticized both the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 and Israel’s military actions in Gaza, describing them as significant breaches of international law. The ICJ, following a case initiated by South Africa, had previously ordered Israel to take measures to prevent genocidal actions in Gaza, though it did not label the actions as genocide. Ireland’s intervention may argue that Israel’s blockade of food aid could be deemed genocidal.
