Iran Threatens Severe Outcomes If Israel Isn't Restrained

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Iran’s UN mission warned that Israel’s actions could have significant consequences if not stopped, particularly its “war crimes and genocide.” This came after Iran communicated a warning to Israel through the UN, expressing its intent to respond if Israel conducts a ground offensive in Gaza, which is under Hamas control.

The UN message from Iran stated, “If Israeli apartheid’s war crimes and genocide continue unchecked, the situation may escalate with extensive repercussions. The UN, Security Council, and Council member states share responsibility for the situation’s outcome.”

Israel was preparing for a ground assault against Hamas in Gaza in response to an earlier Hamas attack that resulted in civilian casualties and hostage-taking. The conflict has resulted in severe bombardment and a blockade in Gaza, causing significant casualties.

Efforts are being made to prevent the conflict from spreading regionally, especially into Lebanon, where Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has clashed with Israel. UN Middle East peace envoy Tor Wennesland engaged in diplomatic discussions to secure the release of hostages, ensure humanitarian access, and prevent the conflict from expanding. Iran’s Foreign Minister also met with Hamas leaders.

Israel’s UN mission did not comment on the reported warnings from Iran.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
