Iran has warned that it may develop nuclear weapons if the U.S. or Israel attacks under the guise of nuclear concerns.
Ali Larijani, an adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, issued the warning in response to statements from former U.S. President Donald Trump and Israel. He emphasized that Iran is prohibited from pursuing nuclear weapons due to a religious decree by Khamenei. However, he stated that if the U.S. makes a mistake, public pressure could push Iran toward nuclear armament, according to IRNA.

Larijani cautioned that military action against Iran would have severe consequences and stressed that bombing would not dismantle Iran’s nuclear program. He also noted that any indirect talks with the U.S. would focus on clarifying demands and negotiating mutual concessions.
On Sunday, Trump warned of “unprecedented military strikes” if Iran refused to negotiate on its nuclear program, stating, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing like they’ve never seen before.” He also claimed that U.S. and Iranian officials were already engaged in discussions.
His comments follow a letter sent in early March via the UAE, in which Washington proposed direct nuclear negotiations. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that Tehran rejected direct talks but remained open to indirect discussions.
