Iran launched a missile strike on the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, in what Tehran has labeled a “measured response” to ongoing Israeli military operations across the region. The missile caused structural damage, ignited fires, and left at least six people injured, according to Israeli emergency services.
The attack follows a series of Israeli air raids on Iranian targets, including strikes on Tehran that reportedly involved over 60 fighter jets and 120 munitions. Iran’s Ministry of Defence claims the strikes hit industrial areas but also caused significant civilian casualties, prompting the retaliatory action.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) emphasized that the strike was “carefully calibrated” to hit military infrastructure while avoiding civilian harm. Nonetheless, Beersheba’s emergency services responded to fires and widespread disruption, with parts of the city, including its northern train station, temporarily shut down.
The missile strike comes amid a dramatic escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, further compounded by deadly Israeli operations in Gaza that have left at least 34 Palestinians dead, many of them aid seekers. Iran has condemned the Gaza killings as clear violations of international law.
With U.S. President Donald Trump expected to decide within two weeks whether the United States will join the conflict, Iran has urged global powers to step in and push for diplomacy before the situation spirals into full-scale regional war.
