Tensions flared in the final hours leading up to the announced ceasefire between Iran and Israel, as a wave of Iranian missile strikes hit southern Israel, killing at least six people and injuring over 20 others in Beersheba.
The strikes, which occurred late Monday into early Tuesday, came shortly before the ceasefire deal brokered by former US President Donald Trump was set to begin. Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), reported that two of the wounded were in moderate condition, while several others sustained minor injuries, including trauma from shrapnel and panic-related symptoms.

Beersheba, one of the main targets of the missile barrage, saw multiple waves of air raid sirens as Israel’s Iron Dome defense system attempted to intercept the incoming projectiles. Residents spent much of the night moving in and out of shelters amid continued alarms and blasts.
Despite the ceasefire announcement, the situation remained highly volatile throughout the night. While both governments have signaled a willingness to observe the truce, the late-hour attacks underscored the deep mistrust and risk of renewed hostilities if any side perceives violations.
International observers have called on both Iran and Israel to exercise restraint and commit fully to the terms of the ceasefire to avoid further bloodshed.
