Iran strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s new travel ban, calling it a sign of “deep hostility” toward both Iranians and Muslims. In a statement posted on X, a senior official from Iran’s foreign ministry condemned the ban, saying it targets individuals solely based on nationality and religion, violating international law.

The ban, announced Wednesday, restricts entry from 12 countries—Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen—beginning Monday.

Trump defended the move as a national security measure against “foreign terrorists,” echoing a similar policy from his 2017–2021 term that barred citizens from several Muslim-majority countries.
