Iran Asserts Israel and US 'Powerless' Against Tehran

Iran has strongly dismissed threats from the U.S. and Israel, calling them a violation of international law. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated that the U.S. and Israel could not harm Iran, asserting, “When it comes to a country like Iran, they cannot do a damn thing.”

This comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed efforts to thwart Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Netanyahu mentioned Israel’s significant blows to Iran since the Gaza war and expressed confidence that they could “finish the job” with support from U.S. President Donald Trump.

Regarding the nuclear deal, Trump’s administration withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reimposing sanctions on Iran, which led Iran to breach the nuclear agreement. Despite Trump’s stance on renewing talks, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has criticized the previous U.S. administration for not honoring its commitments.

Despite the defiant rhetoric, Iran’s influence in the region has been weakening, especially since the beginning of the Hamas-Israel conflict and the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria. The “Axis of Resistance,” a coalition of groups including Hamas, Hezbollah, and others, has seen significant damage during this period.
