Introducing Muhammad Ali – Pakistan's first AI assistant robot, created by a 6th grader

Muhammad Hasnain, an 11-year-old from Karachi, created an AI assistant robot named Muhammad Ali as part of a summer project following a free robotics training course. Muhammad Ali, equipped with a personality and a face, is more than just a chatbot; it can answer questions, control home appliances, play movies, and provide instructions for cooking or brewing tea.

Hasnain’s interest in science and technology started early. He previously built a Bluetooth-powered car in 2022 and a virtual reality game in 2023. He designed Muhammad Ali to have a distinct personality and face, setting it apart from other AI chatbots that he feels lack personal interaction.

Muhammad Ali, described as a “kind and helpful” Muslim and Pakistani, can perform tasks based on voice commands and has a keen awareness of its surroundings. Hasnain’s father, Syed Faraz Haider, praised his son’s exceptional learning abilities and memory, while Shakeel Abbas, Hasnain’s robotics teacher, noted that the robot’s design and coding were entirely Hasnain’s work.

Looking ahead, Hasnain plans to enhance Muhammad Ali with a full body and integrate a camera to recognize users. He aspires to a career in robotics and game development, with future projects already in the works.
