Internet Services in Pakistan to Shut Down January 15

Internet connectivity across Pakistan is expected to face temporary disruption on January 15 due to scheduled maintenance on one of the country’s submarine cables.

Internet service provider Nayatel informed its customers via email that an unavoidable maintenance operation will take place on January 15, 2026, starting around 2:00 PM. The company stated that the work could continue for up to eight hours and may result in slow internet speeds nationwide. Nayatel also apologized for any inconvenience caused but did not disclose the specific location or nature of the issue affecting the submarine cable.

If the disruption occurs, it would mark the second instance of degraded internet services within two weeks. Earlier, on January 1, 2026, users across Pakistan experienced widespread internet outages due to a fault in one of the country’s upstream providers. That incident led to connectivity issues lasting more than 48 hours, affecting users nationwide.
