Internet Services in Pakistan Show Signs of Improvement, But Challenges Persist
Internet services in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have shown some improvement today, but the situation remains difficult in many parts of Pakistan, especially in Lahore, where internet speeds continue to be sluggish.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has yet to provide an official explanation for the ongoing connectivity issues, leaving millions of users in the dark. Despite some improvement, many areas still suffer from persistent disruptions.

Students, freelancers, and other professionals are among the most affected, as they face difficulties meeting academic deadlines and work commitments due to slow internet speeds. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp remain particularly slow in several cities, with users reporting issues in uploading and downloading photos, videos, and voice notes.
Virtual private networks (VPNs) are also not functioning normally, adding to the frustration. Many users have pointed to the PTA’s recent implementation of a new firewall as a potential cause for these disruptions, although the authority has not yet confirmed the issue or provided any clarity.
Notably, the government had imposed a three-day internet blockage last week to curtail peaceful protests, which ended late Tuesday night. However, the problems with internet services continue a week after the protests concluded.
