[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Despite inflated claims of an austerity drive, the Punjab cabinet’s standing committee reportedly approved Rs 88 million to refurbish prime minister Shehbaz Sharif’s helipad at his Model Town mansion in Lahore.
According to a report published today, Rs. 88 million will be transferred from a home department block allocation into the Asaan Assignment Account of the Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC), subject to the completion of all legal and regulatory requirements.
The helipad upgrade cost was authorised during the meeting and will be paid for “in principle” from a home ministry block allocation.

The commissioner also provided an approximate cost estimate for the pavement, control room, lighting system, generators, and civil works for the helipad at the second meeting of the caretaker SCCLO on March 22, 2023, which was approved by the SCCLO.Nonetheless, a number of high-ranking officials are sceptical of this expenditure, which they see as excessive given the country’s dire financial situation.
Opponents claim it is wasteful spending, especially given the government’s current efforts to obtain financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) while enforcing system-wide austerity measures.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
