The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has extended the interim bails of several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders. This includes PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Bushra Bibi. The extension is valid until September 8 in the ongoing November 26 protest case.
During the hearing, Judge Tahir Abbas Siprah reviewed a total of 230 pre-arrest bail applications. Several PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar, Zartaj Gul, Umair Niazi, and Latif Khosa, appeared before the court.
Some PTI members, such as Bushra Bibi, Salman Akram Raja, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shibli Faraz, were granted exemption from appearing in court. Their applications seeking immunity were accepted by the judge.
The cases stem from protests held on November 26, which led to multiple complaints. So far, 19 cases have been registered against PTI leaders. These cases are filed at various police stations including Margalla, Kohsar, and Ramna.
The extension of interim bails provides temporary relief to the PTI leaders. It allows them to remain free while legal proceedings continue. The court’s decision prevents immediate arrests related to the protest cases.
Interim bails are a legal provision that protects accused individuals before their trial begins. In this case, the PTI leaders benefit from this protection as the investigation and court process move forward.
The November 26 protests have drawn significant attention, with multiple parties involved. The court is handling the large number of bail applications carefully. It aims to ensure a fair legal process for all involved.
The extension of interim bails marks another step in the ongoing legal proceedings. It allows the accused leaders to prepare their cases while avoiding detention. Further hearings will determine the next course of action.
