Intel has suggested the possibility of a “Windows refresh” slated for 2024 as part of its strategy to boost sales.
During Citi’s analyst conference last month, Intel’s CFO, David Zinsner, hinted at the likelihood of an upcoming Windows release in the coming year. This hint implies that consumers might be encouraged to upgrade their PCs due to the arrival of a new version of Windows.

These comments from Zinsner, which emerged a month ago, were reported by PC Gamer. They follow several months of internal Intel documents leaking references to Windows 12. Intel appears to be preparing its Meteor Lake desktop platform for the next generation of Windows, likely to be branded as Windows 12.
Although Microsoft has not officially announced any plans for Windows 12, there are indications that the company is considering integrating AI-powered features into future Windows versions.
Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s head of consumer marketing, previously mentioned in an interview with The Verge, “As we start to develop future versions of Windows, we’ll think about other places where AI should play a natural role in terms of the experience.”
Microsoft seems to be quietly laying the groundwork for a greater emphasis on AI within Windows. Given these developments, the prospect of Windows 12, accompanied by a hardware upgrade focused on AI coprocessors, appears increasingly plausible.
