The Ministry of Information Technology has issued a notification reinstating the powers of the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing.
As per the notification, the laws that previously governed the National Cyber Crimes and Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have been repealed, with the powers now transferred to the FIA Cyber Crime Wing.

Sources informed ProPakistani that the repeal of the NCCIA laws was due to the agency’s incomplete structure. Once the structure is fully established, the laws governing the agency will be reinstated.
In the meantime, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing has been empowered to take action against social media crimes. The NCCIA, established in 2023, was initially tasked with curbing social media-related offenses, but its functions have now been temporarily absorbed by the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing.
