Indonesia Offers Humanitarian Shelter to Palestinians Amid Gaza Crisis

Indonesia has announced its readiness to temporarily host up to 1,000 Palestinians affected by the war in Gaza, including the injured, orphans, and those suffering from trauma. President Prabowo Subianto shared the plan ahead of his diplomatic visit to the Middle East and Turkey, reinforcing Indonesia’s long-standing support for Palestinian rights and independence.

The initiative will see evacuees housed in Indonesia until it is safe for them to return. Prabowo directed Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to coordinate with Palestinian authorities and international partners to begin the evacuation process. “We are ready to evacuate the wounded, the traumatised, the orphans,” Prabowo said.

Indonesia’s move comes amid ongoing criticism of global inaction as the death toll in Gaza surpasses 50,700, with the majority being women and children. The Indonesian government has also rejected any proposals of forced Palestinian displacement, reaffirming its stance on a two-state solution.

Prabowo’s tour includes stops in Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar — countries actively involved in mediation efforts. His government is also considering contributing peacekeeping forces if asked by international bodies, signaling a deeper role in resolving the humanitarian crisis.
