India’s ‘Operation Mahadev’ Sparks Controversy Over Kashmir and Pakistan Conflict

India has reportedly launched a covert military plan named Operation Mahadev, raising serious concerns in Pakistan. Security sources claim the operation is aimed at covering up recent military setbacks against Pakistan and suppressing dissent in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Pakistani intelligence sources, India began Operation Mahadev following the failure of its earlier military campaign, Operation Sindoor. The new operation allegedly includes staged encounters and efforts to portray detained Pakistanis as cross-border terrorists.

These fake operations, the sources claim, are designed to revive the Modi government’s political image after its losses in the 87-hour conflict in May. That brief war, known as Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos on the Pakistani side, ended with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire. During the fighting, Pakistan reportedly downed six Indian aircraft, including three Rafale jets.

Security officials believe India is using detainees held in its jails to support the operation. They warn that these individuals could be killed and falsely labeled as militants who entered from Pakistan. Some detainees have allegedly been forced to give statements against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has revealed that 723 Pakistanis are currently being held in Indian prisons. Among them, 56 are reportedly in the custody of Indian intelligence agencies. These same detainees were mentioned in the DG ISPR’s press briefings earlier this year, where he warned of a possible Indian plan to use them in fake narratives.

In April, following the Pahalgam incident, Indian forces reportedly killed two Kashmiris near the border, claiming they were militants. Pakistani sources say the operation was another false flag effort aimed at shifting blame and maintaining control in IIOJK.

While India has not officially confirmed these allegations, its military continues operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani officials, however, see this as a clear attempt to mislead the international community and divert attention from internal challenges.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about airline safety and passenger awareness, as highlighted in this unusual PIA episode.
