Indian Players Share Fake Trophy Photos After Asia Cup Snub

Indian Players are facing backlash after posting pictures with a trophy on social media following their refusal to accept the official Asia Cup 2025 silverware.

Cricketers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill shared images of themselves holding a trophy. However, fans quickly noted that the official Asia Cup trophy had never been handed to the Indian team during the closing ceremony.

Many cricket followers mocked the move, calling the photos “fake” and “manufactured.” Critics questioned why Indian Players would share such images when the original trophy was withheld.

The controversy began when the team refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi after their win over Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had already informed the ACC of this decision before the match.

As a result, the trophy was withdrawn from the stage. Naqvi presented the runner-up cheque to Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha instead, while the Indian squad left the ceremony without lifting the silverware.

The unusual conclusion shocked many fans and added to the political undertones of the tournament. Although the Indian team celebrated their victory, the absence of the official trophy overshadowed their achievement.

When Indian Players later shared trophy photos online, the criticism intensified. Some supporters defended the move as a symbolic gesture to mark their win. Others argued that the act undermined the team’s earlier decision not to accept the trophy from Naqvi.

The Asia Cup 2025, instead of being remembered solely for India’s victory, has become mired in controversy. The debate continues both in cricket circles and across social media, with Indian Players at the center of the storm.
