An Indian embassy official has been found dead under mysterious circumstances within the embassy premises in Washington.
According to the news agency PTI, local police and the Secret Service are investigating the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, including the possibility of suicide.

The Embassy confirmed the death in an official statement on Friday but did not provide further details.
“We regret to inform that a member of the Embassy of India passed away on the evening of September 18, 2024. We are coordinating with all relevant agencies and the family to facilitate the prompt transfer of the remains to India,” the statement read.
“Additional details about the deceased will not be released to respect the family’s privacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding,” it added.
