Pakistani troops brought down an Indian surveillance quadcopter on Tuesday after it intruded into the country’s airspace near the Line of Control in Bhimber’s Manawar sector, according to security sources. The drone was reportedly conducting spying operations when it was swiftly intercepted.
Officials praised the timely military response, calling it a demonstration of Pakistan Army’s high alertness and defensive capability along the border. They stated that such attempts at unauthorized aerial surveillance would be dealt with firmly.

The border incident follows heightened tensions between the two countries after a deadly attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that left 26 people dead. The fallout has seen a rapid escalation in diplomatic and military rhetoric, with both sides accusing the other of provocation.
India suspended the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty a day after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan responded by threatening to halt the Simla Agreement and close its airspace to Indian aircraft, further deepening the crisis. Meanwhile, India has hinted at external links to the attack without offering evidence, while Pakistan has denied any involvement.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for an independent probe into the Pahalgam incident, urging transparency and restraint in the region. The situation remains tense with the potential for further diplomatic fallout.
