Indian Army Acknowledges Losses and Calls for De-escalation After Pakistani Strikes

Indian Army Acknowledges Significant Losses Following Pakistan’s Missile Strikes

In a significant admission, the Indian Army confirmed substantial losses following a series of missile strikes by Pakistan targeting multiple Indian military installations and airbases on Saturday.

Acknowledgment of Damage to Strategic Locations

During a press conference in New Delhi, an Indian Army spokesperson confirmed that Pakistan launched high-speed missile strikes on critical airbases in Pathankot, Udhampur, Bhuj, and Adam Port. The spokesperson revealed that the missile strikes caused severe damage to infrastructure and military equipment, resulting in human and material losses.

“This was an unprecedented and coordinated assault. We confirm that Pakistan targeted 26 of our installations, including frontline airbases,” the spokesperson stated. While acknowledging the aggression, Indian officials emphasized that New Delhi does not seek an escalation of tensions.

Loss of Senior Personnel

In an unexpected shift from earlier positions, India confirmed the loss of senior personnel, including Raj Kumar Thapa, a senior administrative officer who was killed during a missile strike in Rajouri sector, located in Indian-administered Kashmir. Although the Indian Army refrained from disclosing the total casualty count, officials described the damage as serious and ongoing assessments were underway.

India Signals Willingness to De-escalate

Colonel Sofia Qureshi, addressing the press, stated that India is committed to halting further escalation, should Pakistan reciprocate. “India does not wish to prolong this conflict. If Pakistan agrees to de-escalate, we are prepared to stand down,” she said.

Pakistan’s Position and Regional Reactions

Though Pakistan has not issued a formal statement, military officials in Islamabad reiterated that the missile strikes were a “measured and proportionate response” to previous Indian provocations.

International Mediation Efforts Underway?

Regional analysts suggest that India’s acknowledgment of the losses may be a strategic move to gather international support and signal a willingness to step back from escalating the crisis. As tensions continue to rise, increased activity in both Islamabad and New Delhi involving foreign diplomatic missions hints at potential backdoor negotiations to contain the conflict.
