India is expected to finally receive the 2025 Asia Cup trophy in November after weeks of delay following their tournament victory. The official handover ceremony is likely to take place in early November, with sources suggesting November 10 as the tentative date.
The delay occurred due to tensions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Reports indicate that the Indian team refused to accept the trophy immediately after winning the final in Dubai because of disagreements with ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The trophy has remained at the ACC’s Dubai headquarters since the end of the tournament. The BCCI has reportedly warned it will raise the issue with the International Cricket Council (ICC) if the handover is not completed by next month.
Officials from both boards are now working to finalize details of the ceremony. While the ACC insists there was no intent to delay the handover, the situation has added a layer of political tension to what should have been a simple celebration of India’s triumph.
