RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed on Wednesday that India launched missile strikes at three locations — Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Ahmed Pur East in Bahawalpur. He stated that the attacks were unprovoked and would be responded to at a time and place of Pakistan’s choosing. The Pakistan Air Force was already on alert, preventing Indian jets from entering its airspace.
Initial reports indicated multiple explosions, with casualties including a child killed and two others injured in Ahmed Pur East. A mosque was among the targets.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif earlier warned that a clash with India could occur at any time due to rising tensions following a recent militant attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir that killed 26 people. India blamed Pakistan without evidence, a claim Pakistan strongly denied, urging a neutral investigation. In response to the heightened tensions, both countries have reinforced military readiness, while diplomatic efforts continue to avoid escalation.
