India vs Bangladesh Test Match Highlights, Day 4:

On Day 4, Ravichandran Ashwin, who went wicketless in the first innings, finished the second with impressive figures of 6 for 88. He received strong support from Ravindra Jadeja, who took 3 wickets for 58 runs, bringing his Test wicket tally to 299.

India staged a remarkable recovery after being in a tough position at 144 for 6 on Day 1. The spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja collaborated for a crucial 199-run partnership for the seventh wicket, helping India regain control.

Under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, India bowled out Bangladesh for just 149 runs within one and a half sessions. India opted not to enforce the follow-on, and Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant formed a solid fourth-wicket partnership, adding 167 runs. Pant scored a century off 124 balls, hitting 13 fours and 4 sixes, while Gill reached his fifth Test hundred, remaining unbeaten at the end with 161 runs.

On the morning of Day 4, Bangladesh’s overnight batsmen, skipper Najmul Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan, demonstrated resilience against Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj’s initial attacks. However, the introduction of Ashwin after the drinks break changed the game. He achieved his 37th five-wicket haul, and Jadeja quickly followed suit, dismissing Bangladesh’s tailenders. Najmul Shanto top-scored for Bangladesh with a solid 82 runs.

The second Test of the two-match series is scheduled to take place in Kanpur starting September 27.
