Defending champions and co-hosts India have unveiled their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which begins on February 7. The team aims to win a record third T20 World Cup title at home.
Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain, marking his first ICC tournament in the role. All-rounder Axar Patel will serve as vice-captain, joining the leadership team for the marquee event.
In a significant decision, Shubman Gill, India’s current One-Day and Test captain, has been dropped from the T20 World Cup squad. Selectors opted for specialist T20 performers to strengthen India’s chances of defending the title.
Ishan Kishan Returns

Experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also been retained, providing balance with both bat and ball.
