Imran Khan's Prison, Adiala Jail, Thwarted Terrorist Assault

On Thursday night, Adiala Jail, a renowned correctional facility where the former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his close associates are currently incarcerated, narrowly averted a terrorist attack. The security forces successfully thwarted the planned assault at the Central Jail Rawalpindi, situated in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the police collaborated to apprehend three militants involved in the scheme.

The detained attackers, believed to be of Afghan origin, were found in possession of advanced weaponry and a substantial stockpile of ammunition. Subsequently, they were relocated to undisclosed locations for further investigation. The militants were reportedly intending to target the strategically significant jail.

The Rawalpindi police revealed that the seized items included automatic heavy weapons, ammunition, hand grenades, explosives, and maps, emphasizing the severity of the potential threat. In the aftermath of the arrests, law enforcement agencies conducted a comprehensive search operation in the vicinity of the jail to ensure the safety of the area.

Adiala Jail is currently grappling with overcrowding issues, accommodating prisoners at double its intended capacity. Among the detainees are prominent figures such as the former Prime Minister and PTI founder, Imran Khan, alongside former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood and former CM Punjab Elahi.

The incident underscores the critical role played by the security forces in preventing a potential security breach at Adiala Jail, safeguarding not only the detainees but also the overall stability of the correctional facility.
