In a significant development within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), founding chairman Imran Khan has reportedly asked party leader Junaid Akbar to resign from his post as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The message, according to sources, was relayed to party leadership through Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan.
Party insiders suggest that Khan wants Akbar to concentrate more on core party responsibilities amid ongoing political shifts and internal restructuring. There is speculation that Omar Ayub, PTI’s current nominee for prime minister and a senior leader, might be considered to assume the PAC chairmanship, though no official statement has been released yet.

When approached by reporters, Junaid Akbar clarified that he had not received any formal directive through the same channel by which he was originally appointed. He maintained that, as of now, no official instruction to resign had been conveyed to him.
Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja refrained from commenting on the situation, adding that a formal party stance would be shared if deemed necessary. The PAC remains a critical parliamentary body responsible for scrutinizing public expenditures and ensuring financial accountability in governance.
