Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will be shifted to the Islamabad jail once its construction is completed.
Speaking to the media, Mohsin Naqvi stated, “The Islamabad jail will be completed within two months. All medical facilities are available inside the prison. Imran Khan was sentenced by an Islamabad court and will be transferred to the Islamabad jail.”
The minister added that the new facility is fully equipped to meet the needs of inmates, including medical care. This development comes after a court ruling that sentenced Imran Khan, necessitating his relocation to a central prison in the federal capital.
Separately, Mohsin Naqvi addressed a passing-out parade at Police Lines, highlighting the government’s efforts to strengthen the federal police force. He said there had previously been no dedicated team to combat terrorism. A six-month training program was fast-tracked and completed in just three months through continuous effort.
He praised the officers responsible for training the personnel and emphasized that police training schools in Islamabad are being upgraded. Citizens from other regions will also attend these schools to improve national law enforcement capabilities.
The federal interior minister expressed confidence that the newly trained officers would work with dedication to counter terrorism effectively. He also congratulated the Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) for successfully overseeing the program.
By confirming the transfer of Imran Khan and detailing improvements in law enforcement, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the government’s dual focus on ensuring justice and strengthening security infrastructure across the country.
