Imran Khan states, "Gen Faiz Hameed was our asset and has been wasted"

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has recently expressed strong opinions on several political issues and internal party matters during an informal discussion with journalists at Adiala Jail.

Khan criticized the handling of former spy chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, describing him as “our asset, who has been wasted.” He commented that the ongoing investigation into Faiz Hameed by the Pakistan Army was an internal matter and emphasized that while accountability is important, it should be applied universally. Khan also suggested that the removal of Faiz Hameed was influenced by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and current Premier Shehbaz Sharif, noting significant debate over his dismissal. He clarified, “I have no relation with Faiz Hameed.”

Additionally, Imran Khan voiced concerns about constitutional violations, particularly regarding the government’s failure to adhere to the Supreme Court’s decision on reserved seats. He criticized this as a breach of the Constitution and indicated that PTI is preparing for any potential fallout from this issue.

In related news, former deputy superintendent Zafar and jail assistant Nazim from Adiala Jail have been detained on charges of providing unauthorized privileges to Imran Khan during his imprisonment. Authorities are investigating the involvement of several other jail employees, with former deputy superintendent Muhammad Akram, who was removed from his post in June, providing information about the case. These investigations are aimed at uncovering any misuse of power within the prison system.
