Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan met with his three sisters, including Aleema Khan, and three members of his legal team at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The family members present included Aleema Khan, Uzma Khanum, and Noreen Khanum, while the legal team consisted of Barrister Gohar, Salman Safdar, and Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry. Following the meeting, Aleema Khan addressed the media and shared that the family met Imran Khan after two months. She confirmed that only three lawyers were allowed to attend the meeting. Aleema Khan further stated that Imran Khan discussed the need for swift responses during wartime, particularly in light of tensions with India. She quoted him as saying, “Modi harbours intense hatred for Pakistan and is likely very angry at the moment. He may commit another blunder.” She also mentioned that Imran Khan warned of a potential false flag operation carried out by India in occupied Kashmir and urged both the armed forces and the nation to stay vigilant.
Regarding the trial of civilians in military courts, Imran Khan reportedly criticized it, calling it a result of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. He emphasized that such trials do not occur in any democratic country.
Aleema Khan also addressed the issue of Junaid Akbar’s role, stating that the PTI founder left it to him to decide which position he wished to hold. She mentioned that if Junaid Akbar is capable of managing the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), there would be no problem, though her primary focus remains on the movement, not the PAC.
Barrister Gohar Calls for National Reconciliation
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, in his media comments, echoed a call for national unity, stating that just as a ceasefire has been achieved with India, it should also apply internally. He emphasized the need to end the ongoing cycle of political cases and arbitrary arrests for the sake of national harmony. He called for the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, stating that the leader of the country’s largest political party should not remain in jail.
Barrister Gohar also confirmed Junaid Akbar’s resignation as PAC Chairman. Although the resignation had not yet been physically received, it was likely submitted in accordance with the PTI founder’s instructions.
